Product Application Engineer

Advanced Architectural Products (A2P), a cutting-edge manufacturer and creator of GreenGirt continuous insulation and SMARTci building enclosure system, is expanding our Engineering Department and is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product Application Engineer, located in Allegan, MI. The Product Application Engineer designs and develops solutions for new products, enhancements, and existing product lines through selection of materials, form, fit, function, design failure mode effect analysis and design reliability testing. The Product Application Engineer will determine best practices and processes to minimize labor, material, and overhead costs, and assure manufacturability to increase market share and profitability. The successful candidate will have a mix of responsibilities and must be a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can manage several projects simultaneously. This role requires strong communication skills, an energetic personality, and a strong work ethic. Requirements and Responsibilities:
  • Designs and develops solutions for new products, enhancements, and existing product lines through selection of materials, form, fit, function, design failure mode effect analysis and design reliability testing
  • Determines best practices and processes to minimize labor, material, and overhead costs, and assure manufacturability to increase market share and profitability
  • Participates in analysis of competitive products by evaluating materials, manufacturing processes, product performance, and packaging to determine competitiveness of product offerings
  • Develops products or product enhancements; researches and periodically tests and validates product
  • Work closely with project teams during concept phase to ensure concepts selected can be designed and manufactured to meet product requirements and cost expectations (cost, quality, and timing)
  • Ability to research and gather information, generate creative engineering/design solutions, and evaluate the overall relative value of different concepts, ideas, and designs in support of stated goals
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and effectively manage time and priorities
  • Understand how products function in the market
  • Has the ability to see solutions in other, sometimes unexpected, places and apply them to a challenging problem
  • All other duties as assigned
Experience:
  • Mechanical engineering: 5 years (required)
  • Product development, concept to production: 5 years (required)
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent  (required)
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment
  • Enjoys multi-tasking

Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour

Schedule: 9 hour shifts, Monday to Friday
