Fire testing is an essential step in the development of building materials, ensuring that they are safe and meet regulatory standards. It is also critical to provide necessary data to designers and architects when making decisions about the long-term performance of a building.

Fire testing evaluates the fire resistance of building materials and components by measuring their ability to resist heat, smoke, and flames. It is an essential tool in providing safety from fire for occupants of a structure and gives vital information to determine the best fire prevention and protection measures for a building.

At Advanced Architectural Products (A2P), we understand the importance of fire testing and have invested heavily in creating the largest fire-testing laboratory in our industry. Our labs are equipped with the most advanced fire-safety testing methods and technologies, allowing us to conduct a wide range of tests on building materials and components, including heat & fire resistance, ignition loss, combustion gas composition, smoke density, fire spread behavior, and more.

With our extensive experience and expertise in fire safety testing, we can provide our customers with comprehensive test data to ensure that our products meet the most demanding fire-safety standards. A2P’s in-house testing capabilities include NFPA 285, cone calorimeter, UL 94, LOI, TGA and DSC. Our extensive testing capability allows us to design and create a holistic fire solution that provides best practice solutions that are environmentally friendly and best in class.

NFPA 285

The NFPA 285 test is the gold standard for fire testing in the construction industry, used to measure the fire-resistance of exterior wall assemblies and other building components. The test can be used to determine the fire-resistance rating of the building. This test is essential for ensuring that buildings and materials are designed, constructed, and maintained to provide adequate protection from fire.

If your building material product has passed the NFPA 285 test, you know it is in compliance with fire safety standards.

Additional Tests:

ASTM E84: The ASTM E84 test is used to assess the fire safety of construction products. It provides an indication of how the material will react in the event of a fire.

UL 94: The UL 94 test is a flammability rating system used to measure the burn characteristics of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances. The conditions in which the UL 94 test is conducted do not replicate real-world conditions.
