Successful buildings must have a solid foundation to withstand structural load demands, which includes having a durable building envelope and cladding support system. The GreenGirt CMH™ continuous insulation and SMARTci® building enclosure systems are designed to provide strength and long-term durability for any cladding requirements. While these systems are capable of handling structural loads of any cladding material, two accessories are available from Advanced Architectural Products for projects with unique cladding or extreme performance requirements: (1) GreenGirt CMH™ Double Z-girts and (2) GreenGirt CMH™ Dead Load Clips. These optional accessories are available to increase structural support and durability in case additional support is needed for projects with unique cladding or extreme spacing. This article highlights these accessories and the support they can provide to GreenGirt CMH and SMARTci systems, and projects that have used them to support unique cladding requirements.

While our horizontal systems already handle a variety of cladding materials with ease, Dead Load Clips elevate performance, tackling unique cladding challenges head-on. Built for serious load demands, they boast the muscle to carry over 500-pound point loads – comparable to the raw strength of GreenGirt CMH Double Z-girts.

Bryan Medical Center

The Bryan Medical Center East Campus Project in Lincoln, Nebraska, is a section of the Bryan Health Hospital consisting of inpatient and outpatient services, heart services, 24/7 emergency care, and more. Construction for this project used SMARTci on closed framing for the walls, installed horizontally at 3” deep and 16” on center, with zinc reveal and zinc flat rock cladding. GreenGirt CMH Double Z-girts were used for additional support and durability when pairing heavy zinc reveal and zinc flat rock cladding with the SMARTci system.
