What is SMARTci® (on open framing)?
SMARTci® (on open framing) is an air- and water-tight building enclosure system designed to eliminate thermal bypass, installed over open framing to improve air and water tightness while reducing labor and material steps. It’s comprised of Class I GreenGirt CMH™ continuous insulation Z-girts, integrated custom-profiled insulation panels, ThermaLock technology, and required accessories.
What lengths and depths does SMARTci® (on open framing) come in?
SMARTci® (on open framing)’s GreenGirt CMH™ Z-girts are supplied in 8′ lengths, with depths from 1.5″ to 8″, and can be installed horizontally.
How air- and water-tight is SMARTci® (on open framing)?
SMARTci® (on open framing) is engineered to withstand up to 20 psf for air- and water-tightness. Pressure seals connect the rigid insulation panels to create a 360-degree air- and water-seal, and the system provides a smooth drainage plane outboard of the assembly.
How does SMARTci®'s custom-profiled rigid insulation create a flush cladding attachment plane and eliminate thermal bypass?
SMARTci®’s rigid insulation panels are custom-profiled and pre-routed to fit exactly around the GreenGirt CMH Z-girts, so there’s no field-cutting insulation to fit the open framing piece by piece. This creates a continuous, flush surface for cladding attachment, while eliminating thermal bypass, not just reducing it.
How does SMARTci®'s custom-profiled rigid insulation enable a stack-and-go installation?
Because SMARTci®’s rigid insulation panels are custom-profiled to fit exactly to the GreenGirt CMH Z-girts and the required depth, and pre-routed in-house, installers can install in stack and go method in the field of the wall, reducing both installation time and material costs, though cutting or fitting is typically still needed at terminations and transitions.
Is SMARTci® (on open framing) available in stainless steel?
Yes. SMARTci® (on open framing) utilizes GreenGirt Max CMH™ or GreenGirt Optima CMH™ Z-girts for its sub-framing, and the steel-reinforced flanges on those Z-girts are available in stainless steel for coastal, high-humidity, or otherwise corrosive environments, in addition to standard galvanized steel.
What cladding and substrates is SMARTci® (on open framing) compatible with?
SMARTci® (on open framing) is compatible with all cladding types, including ACM, fiber cement, metal panel, high-pressure laminate, stucco, brick, terracotta, natural stone, GFRC, wood, and copper. It installs directly over open framing, with the drainage plane located outboard of the SMARTci system.
What insulation types and thicknesses work with SMARTci® (on open framing)?
SMARTci® (on open framing) uses custom-profiled polyiso insulation panels, in thicknesses from 1.5″ to 8″.
