580 Pleasant Lab Building

Watertown, MA
580 Pleasant Lab Building in Watertown, Massachusetts, uses 35,000 square feet of the GreenGirt CMH Delta Adjustable™ system over metal studs, behind ACM and corrugated metal, with mineral wool insulation. It is a laboratory and office building. The project was designed by Dimella Shaffer, built by BW Kennedy & Company, and installed by Advanced Metal Systems.

For a lab building built for energy performance with a clean, multi-material façade, the wall needed continuous insulation plus a way to align the cladding across an uneven substrate; the GreenGirt CMH Delta Adjustable™ system supported that by leveling the cladding plane while keeping the insulation continuous. The adjustable sub-framing absorbs framing tolerances so the façade sits true, and the continuous layer reduces thermal bridging through the metal studs, which matters in an energy-intensive building where the envelope drives heating, cooling, and operating cost.
