Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Facility

Grand Island, NE
Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, uses 1,000 square feet of the SMARTci® building enclosure system over metal studs, behind fiber cement, metal panels, and brick, with polyiso insulation. It is a compact aircraft rescue and firefighting station serving the local airport. The project was designed by Davis Design, Inc., built by Chief Construction, and installed by Coin Construction.

For a public-safety building meant to stay durable and low-maintenance, the wall needed a continuous insulation enclosure that could carry several cladding types; the SMARTci system supported that by holding a mix of heavy and light cladding on one continuous insulation layer while reducing thermal bridging through the metal-stud framing. That gives a small but hard-working facility a durable, weather-resistant exterior with little upkeep, and the continuous layer still trims heating and cooling loads despite the building’s size.
