Exact Sciences Laboratories

Madison, WI

Exact Sciences Laboratories in Madison, Wisconsin, uses 8,000 square feet of GreenGirt Max CMH™ over metal studs, behind fiber cement cladding, with mineral wool insulation. It is a diagnostics laboratory facility. It was designed by Flad Architects, with Findorff serving as both general contractor and installer.

A diagnostics laboratory depends on a tightly controlled interior, and in Madison’s cold climate the envelope carries much of that responsibility. Metal studs form repeating thermal bridges that draw heat out of the wall wherever insulation is interrupted. The GreenGirt Max CMH girts hold the insulation outboard of the studs as a continuous layer, so the framing no longer breaks the thermal plane and interior conditions remain stable.
