April 29, 2025 | Allegan, MI – Advanced Architectural Products’ Industry Relations Manager, José Carrasco, has been appointed to the Rainscreen Association in North America (RAiNA) Rainscreen Performance Committee. This position is essential for situating Advanced Architectural Products as a fellow leader in rainscreen systems and education. As a founding member of RAiNA, A2P is pleased to have José serve on a committee of fellow rainscreen experts selected by RAiNA.
About RAiNA
RAiNA, a non-profit organization founded in 2020, serves as the leading authority on rainscreen wall assemblies – exterior building systems designed to improve moisture control and energy efficiency. RAiNA unites experts from across the construction industry to promote best practices in the design and performance.
RAiNA’s mission is to advance the understanding and use of rainscreens in North America by providing technical guidance, promoting research, and offering educational resources. The association aims to improve building durability, energy performance, sustainability, and aesthetics through well-designed rainscreen systems.
RAiNA also fosters collaboration and knowledge through AIA-accredited courses, industry events, and the development of performance standards, equipping professionals with the knowledge to build better, longer-lasting exterior walls.
About the Rainscreen Performance Committee
The Rainscreen Performance Committee is a core part of RAiNA, dedicated to the technical performance of rainscreen wall assemblies. It establishes performance requirements, develops project specifications, details installation practices, formulates test methods, and specifies materials. The committee works closely with others, such as the Building Codes Committee, to ensure all guidelines are grounded in objective, science-based methods.
To support industry knowledge, the Rainscreen Performance Committee has led several key initiatives. One of the most notable is a comprehensive literature review about rainscreens that consolidates existing research on performance and highlights gaps for future study. This report serves as a critical resource for professionals exploring current rainscreen technologies.
The committee also produces technical bulletins offering guidance on specific aspects of rainscreen systems—such as their use in aluminum curtainwalls and the components of a rainscreen wall assembly—to assist architects, contractors, and other stakeholders in implementing effective rainscreen solutions.
Additionally, the Rainscreen Performance Committee has partnered with specification writers to draft a Division 1 Specification for Rainscreen Systems, promoting standardized requirements and consistency across projects. Through these efforts, the committee significantly advances the quality, performance, and integration of rainscreen assemblies, supporting RAiNA’s mission to promote durable, resilient, and energy-efficient buildings.
