Cass County Government Building in Logansport, Indiana, uses 21,000 square feet of the SMARTci® building enclosure system over metal studs and CMU, behind metal panels and brick, with XPS insulation. It is a county government building serving the public. The project was designed by Design Collaborative and built and installed by Bouma-Betten Construction.

A county building of this type comprises two distinct wall assemblies. One is brick over CMU, which gives the civic exterior its permanence; the other is metal panel over steel studs. SMARTci unifies them, extending one continuous, air- and water-tight insulated enclosure across both backup walls so that the building functions as a single sealed plane rather than two separately detailed assemblies. This continuity is most important behind the brick. Brick absorbs rainwater and can transmit moisture inward, so a moisture-resistant XPS layer behind a sealed water barrier prevents that moisture from reaching the backup wall, which is slower to dry in an Indiana winter.
