Osceola Tech Library

The Osceola Tech Library in Kissimmee, Florida, uses 5,500 square feet of the SMARTci® building enclosure system on closed framing with GreenGirt Max CMH™ over metal studs, behind ACM cladding, with polyiso insulation. It is Osceola County’s first technology-focused library: a building of nearly 11,000 square feet across from Osceola Heritage Park, near the NeoCity technology district. It holds VR and AI coding labs, maker spaces, telehealth access points and a CareerSource Central Florida career center. The project was designed by Schenkel Shultz, built by Arnco Construction, and installed by Quality Metals, Inc.

In Central Florida’s hot, humid climate, warm, moisture-laden outdoor air sits against air-conditioned walls for most of the year, so the envelope has to keep that vapor from condensing inside the wall assembly. The SMARTci building enclosure system creates an air- and water-tight enclosure, which eliminates through-insulation fastening that can let humid air into the wall. The thermally-broken GreenGirt Max CMH Z-girts replace through-metal-to-building connections that carry heat and moisture across the insulation. Keeping moisture out of the wall helps prevent mold, corrosion and material damage over time.
