CHI Franciscan Medical Clinic

Burien, WA

CHI Franciscan Medical Clinic in Burien, Washington, uses 2,500 GreenGirt CMH Clips™ over metal studs, behind metal panels, with mineral wool insulation. It is an outpatient medical clinic. It was designed by ZGF Architects and installed by Northshore Sheet Metal, Inc.

An outpatient clinic depends on a wall that remains both thermally efficient and dry, and this assembly achieves both through clips rather than continuous girts. GreenGirt CMH Clips fasten the cladding at discrete, low-conductivity points instead of through continuous metal that would conduct heat along its full length, so thermal bridging is reduced to small clip contacts and the wall retains more of its effective R-value. The clips also position the metal panels off the wall on a vented cavity, which is significant in Burien’s wet marine climate, where a drained rainscreen allows the assembly to dry behind the panels over the continuous mineral wool.
