Fitzsimons Village Mixed-Use

Aurora, CO

Fitzsimons Village Mixed-Use in Aurora, Colorado, uses 45,000 square feet of the SMARTci® building enclosure system over metal studs, behind fiber cement cladding, with polyiso insulation. It is a mixed-use development near the Anschutz Medical Campus. It was designed by Davis Partnership Architects, built by JE Dunn Construction, and installed by Arrow J Construction.

A mixed-use development conditions varied tenant spaces behind a single facade, so the enclosure must perform consistently while managing Colorado’s wind-driven precipitation. SMARTci pairs an air- and water-tight barrier with the girts that carry the fiber cement, forming a drained rainscreen that sheds water at the cladding while the sealed plane behind it controls air and heat movement.
