Goodwill Mission Support in Sioux City, IA, uses 10,000 SF of the SMARTci® Building Enclosure System over metal studs, behind fiber cement panels, with polyiso insulation. It is an expansion housing the adult day programs of Goodwill of the Great Plains, described as the first net-zero building of its kind in the Siouxland region. The project was designed by CMBA Architects, built by W.A. Klinger, and installed by Olympic Companies, Inc.

A net-zero building must keep energy demand low enough for on-site generation to balance it, which makes envelope performance central to the design. SMARTci supports that target with a continuous air- and water-tight enclosure over polyiso, reducing the infiltration and heat loss that raise demand, behind a fiber cement exterior.
