Northeast Area Middle School

Baltimore, MD

Northeast Area Middle School in Baltimore, Maryland, uses 35,000 SF of the SMARTci® Building Enclosure System over metal studs, behind metal panel and ACM cladding, with XPS insulation. It is a public middle school, designed by Moseley Architects, built by Whiting-Turner, and installed by Interstate Corporation.

This school is insulated with XPS, a moisture-resistant rigid board that holds its R-value where water exposure is a concern. SMARTci seals the wall in a continuous air- and water-tight enclosure over that XPS, controlling the infiltration and moisture that drive up energy use, behind a metal panel and ACM exterior built for low maintenance over decades of public-school use.
