Rainier Beach High School

Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, WA, uses GreenGirt CMH Clips™ and GreenGirt Max CMH™ over steel studs, behind metal panel and ACM cladding, with mineral wool insulation. It is a four-story public high school replacement, built in phases on the existing site while the current school remains open, and is pursuing LEED Platinum certification. The project was designed by Bassetti Architects, built by Lydig Construction Company, and installed by Insulpro Projects and Architectural Sheet Metal.

LEED Platinum requires high energy performance, which makes the envelope central to the design. The combined clip and girt system carries the metal panels and ACM on a thermally broken connection and holds mineral wool continuous over the steel studs, limiting the conductive paths that reduce a wall’s effective R.
