Republic Intermediate School in Republic, MO, uses 50,000 SF of the SMARTci® Building Enclosure System and 10,000 SF of GreenGirt Trim over steel studs, behind metal panel and fiber cement cladding, with polyiso insulation. It is a new public school for 5th and 6th grade students, built to meet enrollment growth, with gymnasiums that double as community storm shelters, designed by H Design Group, built by Federal Construction, Inc., and installed by Performance Contracting Company.

The gymnasiums serve as community storm shelters, a function that requires a durable, tightly sealed envelope. SMARTci provides a continuous air- and water-tight enclosure over polyiso, an assembly that resists the wind-driven rain and pressure of a severe storm.
