Washburn Rural High School

Topeka, KS

Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, KS uses 5,000 SF of SMARTci® building enclosure system over steel studs, behind metal panels, with polyiso. The public high school serves grades 9 through 12 and includes additions and renovations connecting to the existing campus, including a 2,600-seat gymnasium. The project was designed by HTK Architects, built by Kelley Construction, and installed by Kruse Corporation.

A continuous, sealed envelope is part of what modern K-12 schools are specified to provide.SMARTci carries the metal panels on one continuous enclosure across both the new and renovated areas, keeping the air and water barrier unbroken where the addition meets the existing school.
