Excel Academy Charter High School

Boston, MA

Excel Academy Charter High School in Boston, Massachusetts, uses 20,000 square feet of GreenGirt Max CMH™ over CMU, behind cement panel cladding, with mineral wool insulation. It is a charter high school. It was designed by Studio G Architects.

A school built to serve students for decades on a fixed budget needs an exterior wall that holds its performance with minimal upkeep. The GreenGirt Max CMH girts mount outboard of the CMU to carry the cement panels and to position a continuous insulation layer outside the masonry. As composite metal hybrid sub-framing, the girts fasten the cladding without the conductive path a solid-metal attachment into the block would create, helping the wall meet its code R-value targets.
