Farmingdale Union School District Aquatic Center

Farmingdale, NY

Farmingdale Union School District Aquatic Center in Farmingdale, New York, uses 6,000 square feet of the SMARTci® building enclosure system over metal studs, behind fiber cement cladding, with polyiso insulation. It is a school district indoor aquatic facility. It was designed by H2M Architects + Engineers and installed by Dame Contracting, Inc.

An indoor pool keeps interior air warm and heavily humidified year-round, which drives moisture toward the wall, where it can condense once it reaches cold framing in a New York winter. SMARTci forms a continuous air- and water-tight enclosure that keeps that moist air out of the assembly, protecting the wall from the condensation a leaky enclosure would allow.
