Ashburn Recreation & Community Center

Ashburn, VA
Ashburn Recreation & Community Center in Ashburn, VA, uses 43,000 SF of GreenGirt Max CMH™ over metal studs, behind single-skin metal and Dri-Design cladding, with mineral wool insulation. It is a public recreation center in Loudoun County, with a spa, gymnasium, swimming pools, and multipurpose space. The project was designed by Page and built and installed by Costello Construction.

A building with indoor pools holds warm, humid air that drives moisture into the walls, where a cold interior surface invites condensation. GreenGirt Max CMH carries a continuous mineral wool layer outside the metal studs, keeping the studs from forming cold spots so the interior face stays warm enough to resist condensation, while supporting the single-skin and Dri-Design cladding on a thermally broken connection.
