The Metro

West New York, NJ

The Metro in West New York, New Jersey, uses 25,000 square feet of GreenGirt Steel™ over steel stud framing, behind ACM panel cladding, with mineral wool insulation. The 15-story, 156-unit apartment building offers one- and two-bedroom residences along with a community room, gym, and rooftop green space. The project was designed by Michael Graves Architects, built by SOCO Construction, and installed by FM Construction.

West New York sits in ASHRAE 90.1 Climate Zone 4A, where a steel-framed wall is required to carry continuous insulation to meet the code-minimum R-value. GreenGirt Steel’s Z-girt sub-framing, with its integrated thermal brackets, gives The Metro that continuous insulation layer outboard of the studs, while its insulation retention locks hold the mineral wool in place without stick pins — avoiding the thousands of additional thermal bridges those fasteners would otherwise create.
