Kensico-Eastview Connection

The Electrical Building at NYC DEP’s Kensico-Eastview Connection site in Valhalla, NY, uses 7,800 square feet of GreenGirt Max CMH™, installed over CMU, behind GFRC panel cladding, with mineral wool insulation. The new building will support a water supply tunnel connecting the Kensico Reservoir to the Catskill/Delaware UV disinfection facility. The project was designed by NYC DEP’s Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction, built by PJS Montesano JV (Paul J. Scariano, Inc. and Montesano Brothers, Inc.), and installed by SD Industries.

A critical water-infrastructure building housing switchgear and battery equipment needs an envelope that limits moisture intrusion and thermal bridging to protect sensitive electrical systems over decades of largely unattended operation. GreenGirt Max CMH carries a continuous mineral wool layer outboard of the studs while giving the GFRC panels a structural clip attachment point, reducing thermal bridging through the wall.
