Northland Workforce Development Center

Northland Workforce Development Center in Kansas City, Missouri, uses 11,800 square feet of GreenGirt Optima CMH™ Z-girts over steel stud framing, behind fiber cement panel cladding, with spray foam insulation. The two-story, 145,000-square-foot facility will house career and technical education programs in skilled trades, manufacturing, health sciences, and human services for the Platte County R-3 School District. The project was designed by Clark and Enersen, built by JE Dunn, and installed by JE Dunn.

For a career and technical education facility built to serve students and adult learners for decades on a public-school budget, the wall needed a durable, low-maintenance envelope that could carry a heavy fiber cement panel cladding. GreenGirt Optima CMH supports that by carrying the cladding attachment outboard of the framing, reducing thermal bridging through the wall assembly while maintaining a continuous insulation layer.
