Oakland Community College’s Building H renovation and addition in Farmington Hills, Michigan, uses 41,000 square feet GreenGirt Max CMH™ as well as GreenGirt XO™ over steel stud and CMU substrates, behind metal panels, standing seam panels, and ACM cladding, with mineral wool insulation. This project renovates the existing building and adds new space to house OCC’s health sciences and nursing programs, with classrooms, labs, and training spaces across two stories. The project was designed by Integrated Design Solutions, built by Barton Malow, and installed by Liberty Sheet Metal.

For a renovation-and-addition project combining existing CMU construction with a new steel-stud wing, the envelope needed one continuous insulation system that could bridge both substrates and support three different cladding types without a break in thermal performance. GreenGirt Max CMH and GreenGirt XO met that need by keeping the mineral wool insulation layer continuous across the assembly, as well as providing a stable attachment point for the metal panel, standing seam, and ACM cladding regardless of what substrate sits behind it.
