Boston Children’s Hospital

Weymouth, MA
Boston Children’s Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, uses 7,750 square feet of GreenGirt CMH Delta Adjustable™ and 3,800 square feet of GreenGirt Max CMH™ over metal studs, behind ACM cladding, with mineral wool insulation. It is a three-story pediatric outpatient expansion, built to widen access to children’s clinical and outpatient care. The project was designed by isgenuity, built by Bond, and installed by TJ McCartney.

For a children’s hospital designed to present a calm, restorative appearance, the exterior was required to be a clean, flat ACM façade. Flat composite panels leave little margin for irregularity, since any deviation in the plane behind them appears as misaligned panels and uneven reveal joints. For this reason, the majority of the wall is built on GreenGirt CMH Delta Adjustable, whose adjustable sub-framing brings the cladding out to a precisely true plane, while the standard GreenGirt Max CMH is used on the areas already in plane. Both maintain a continuous mineral-wool layer behind the panels, so the building achieves the precise, aligned façade its design intends without interrupting the insulation.
